What is rules of 10 ball?

10-ball is a pocket billiards game which is played with ten object balls numbered 1 through 10 and a cue ball. The rules of 10-ball are very similar to those of nine-ball, but there are a few key differences. Here are some of the rules of 10-ball:

  1. The game is played with ten object balls numbered 1 through 10.

  2. The balls are racked in a triangle, with the 1-ball at the top of the triangle and the 10-ball in the center.

  3. The break shot is played like in nine-ball, with the cue ball being struck by the cue ball hard enough to drive at least one numbered ball to a rail.

  4. If the 10-ball is pocketed on the break, the rack is reracked and the same player breaks again.

  5. A player must legally pocket the lowest numbered ball on the table first, and then continue in numerical order through the remaining balls.

  6. A player's inning continues as long as they legally pocket a ball.

  7. A foul results in the loss of the player's inning, and the incoming player has ball-in-hand behind the headstring.

  8. The game is won by pocketing the 10-ball legally after all other balls have been pocketed.

  9. A called shot is not necessary in 10-ball, but if a player intends to play safe and not pocket a ball, they must announce "safety" before the shot.

  10. If the 10-ball is legally pocketed and other balls are also pocketed in the same shot, the 10-ball is considered as being pocketed first.
